They have provided desktop studies and site investigations; where a good understanding of the local geology, dam and foundation materials, instrumentation, and wider dam safety issues including flooding, internal erosion and seismicity has been required. Project Eveready – Pumped Storage Pre-Feasibility

Stantec commissioned Geological Consulting to assist with the pre-feasibility assessment of three potential pumped storage hydropower projects in New Zealand. Two of the projects were greenfield developments, the other option comprised a modification to an existing hydropower asset. The projects included new dams, surface and underground waterways, and underground powerhouses.
Geological Consulting completed the engineering geological assessment for each option. This included assessment of the constraints placed by natural hazards and the development of geological models for each option to allow pre-feasibility design and cost estimating.
